Seen By on Applications
See which teammates opened an application — and optionally let the candidate know their application was opened, with a date and nothing more.
Why It Matters
Two recruiters can screen the same candidate without knowing it, and a candidate can wait weeks with no sign that a human ever opened their application. Seen-by tracking closes both gaps at once.
What Your Team Sees
Opening an application’s full page records that you opened it. The page then shows a Views section listing everyone on your team who has opened that application, and when, newest first.
Only opening the full application counts. Hover cards and pipeline board cards record nothing — a passing glance isn’t a read.
What the Candidate Sees
If the candidate-facing line is enabled, the candidate portal shows a single sentence: their application was opened by the hiring team, with the date. No names, no count, no “how many times”.
Nothing appears at all until someone actually opens the application, so an application nobody has opened never shows the candidate a negative signal.
After a rejection or withdrawal, that line stops updating. Sourcing an old candidate months later never tells them they were “reviewed again”.
Settings
Both toggles live in Hiring → Settings:
- Team-side view tracking is on by default.
- The candidate-facing line is off by default and has to be switched on.
Turning team tracking off also switches the candidate line off — with nothing recorded, there is nothing to report.
Note
The team-side trail records which team member opened which application. Accounts with works-council or employee-monitoring obligations may prefer to leave it off.
