Hiring Overview
What Kit's Hiring module is, who it's for, and how a role moves from job posting to offer.
What Hiring Does
Hiring runs a role from job posting to accepted offer in one place. You publish the role on a branded career portal and define the stages every candidate goes through. Your team screens, reviews, interviews, and makes the offer in the same pipeline.
Candidates apply, complete tasks, book interviews, and answer the offer from their own portal, opened by a magic link, with no account or password to create.
Who It’s For
| Persona | Goal | Primary Pain |
|---|---|---|
| Hiring manager or CTO running hiring on top of their day job | Make a strong hire without hiring becoming a second job | Applications spread across inboxes; chasing teammates for feedback; candidates waiting for answers |
| Teammate reviewing or interviewing | Give a fair, independent assessment with little overhead | Unclear criteria; scheduling back-and-forth; opinions shaped by whoever spoke first |
| Candidate | Understand the process, do the work, and hear back | Another account to create; no idea where the application stands |
Teammates see only what their Hiring access allows; a restricted posting is visible only to its hiring team and Hiring admins.
How It Works
- Create the role: In Hiring > Job Postings, click New Job Posting, or let an AI assistant draft it. Start from a process template or build stages by hand.
- Shape the pipeline: Order the stages from Application Form to Offer, assign reviewers and interviewers, and keep take-home instructions in the private stage brief.
-
Publish: The role appears on your career portal at
startupkit.app/careers/your-subdomain, or on your own domain once you set up a custom domain. Share the link, embed the portal, or send the role to job boards. - Screen: New applications are held for screening by default and appear in the Inbox. Each candidate gets a confirmation email with a magic link to their portal.
- Assess: Candidates complete questionnaires, work samples, code assignments, or video steps; reviewers vote blind. A clear result can advance the candidate automatically; a split round is flagged Needs Decision for a person to resolve.
- Interview: Candidates book a slot from the interviewers’ availability. Each interviewer needs their own availability schedule; connecting their own Google Calendar hides busy times.
- Offer and close: Send the offer with terms, an optional PDF letter, and an expiry date. The candidate accepts or declines in their portal. Then close the role and record the hire.
