Kit vs Recruitee: Five job slots, or as many roles as you open.
Recruitee gives a mid-market HR team a shared board, WhatsApp messaging and German data residency. Kit ships a pipeline per role and a candidate portal nobody signs into.
Who should choose what?
Choose Kit if you're:
- A startup with 5-50 people hiring their first 10 employees
- Want your own assistant screening and scheduling over MCP
- Believe candidates shouldn't need a password to apply
- Prefer per-seat pricing with no job slot counter
- Need a role template that works before you edit it
Choose Recruitee if you're:
- A European mid-market company requiring strict regional data residency
- Need to hire frontline or blue-collar workers through WhatsApp at scale
- Want a multi-page, multi-language career site builder
- Planning to adopt the full Tellent suite for payroll and reviews
- Have a large HR team needing granular permission controls
- Need complex multi-stage approval workflows before posting
What makes Recruitee special
Recruitee is well-known for three things: multiplayer collaboration, European compliance, and frontline communication.
Multiplayer Collaborative Pipelines
Recruitee is built as a multiplayer workspace. The Kanban board lets the entire hiring team operate simultaneously with @mentions, shared notes, and structured scorecards directly on each candidate's profile. Interviewer scores are hidden until submission to prevent anchoring bias.
Why this matters: The scores sit on the candidate's profile rather than in a Slack thread nobody can find on Friday.
Enterprise-Grade EU Compliance
Headquartered in Amsterdam, Recruitee's architecture is built around European privacy laws. It features automated GDPR consent requests, candidate data deletion protocols, ISO 27001 certification, and strict data residency on German servers.
Why this matters: A company processing thousands of resumes in the EU can name the server country and the deletion rule when asked.
WhatsApp Frontline Communication
Following the FunnelBridge acquisition, Recruitee natively integrates WhatsApp for conversational, mobile-first hiring. Recruiters can text candidates directly from the ATS, bypassing traditional email entirely.
Why this matters: A warehouse or retail candidate reads a WhatsApp message the same hour and answers it, which an email rarely gets.
Why startups choose Kit over Recruitee
Four things a candidate or an interviewer meets in the first week.
Your MCP client drives Kit
Recruitee caps AI screening at 100 credits per month. Kit publishes its work as MCP tools that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Copilot call directly, so the screening runs in the client you already pay for.
Every tool is labelled read-only, destructive, or reaches a real person before your assistant runs it.
Candidates never make an account
Recruitee asks candidates to create a portal account. In Kit a candidate clicks a magic link and lands on their portal, their scheduling page and their assessment.
Security researchers and training participants come in the same way, and none of them take a seat.
Scheduling without a second tool
Candidates self-book from your team's real availability, and the Google Meet link is created with the slot. Kit does not ask you to buy a scheduling tool alongside it.
The interview is on the calendar before the confirmation email would have been written.
A pipeline per role
Recruitee hands you a blank canvas. Kit ships a template per role, with the technical rubric and scorecard already written for that job type.
A founder opens a role in five minutes and edits the rubric later.
What Kit doesn't have
Four things Recruitee does that Kit does not, and what we plan to do about each one.
Multi-Page Career Site Builder
Recruitee's CareersHub is a mature, multi-page career site builder with multi-language routing and custom branding. Kit offers a fast, single-page job board.
Will we add this? Possibly, if demand warrants. Most startups need one job board page that converts; the ten-page career portal gets built elsewhere.
Full-Suite HRIS Integration
Recruitee syncs natively with Tellent HR for payroll, time tracking and performance reviews. Kit stops at the offer and holds no employee records.
Will we add this? We solve this differently with tight API integrations to modern tools like Gusto and Rippling rather than building a proprietary HR suite.
Enterprise Permission Matrices
Recruitee offers highly granular, node-based access controls restricting specific data points by department and user level.
Will we add this? Partly done. Kit now has eight account roles, a per-module access level, and per-item grants on individual jobs and reports. What's still missing is department-level scoping and field-by-field restrictions.
Native WhatsApp Hiring
Recruitee natively integrates with WhatsApp for high-volume frontline and blue-collar recruitment.
Will we add this? No. Kit is built for tech and corporate hiring. High-volume retail and logistics need a different tool.
Philosophy differences
Your ATS decides how your company hires. These two disagree about what it should decide.
Kit: Open as many roles as you need
Kit assumes the hiring team is three people who also have other jobs. Candidates book their own slots, resume fields arrive with a confidence score attached, and there is no job-slot counter deciding how many roles you may open.
Recruitee: Hiring as a team sport
Recruitee believes hiring is a multiplayer administrative process. They provide a structured, collaborative digital environment designed to get HR managers, executives, and interviewers on the same page across large organizations.
Pricing reality check
Kit
$8/seat/month
$8/seat, no feature tiers
- Hiring and security training in the seat price
- Unlimited job postings and candidates
- Scheduling and Google Meet links included
- MCP tools for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Copilot
- Magic-link portal, no candidate seats
Recruitee
From ~$354/month
Start: ~$354/mo | Advance: ~$451/mo | Optimize: Custom
- Start plan capped at 5 active job slots
- AI screening limited to 100 credits/month
- SSO restricted to custom-priced Optimize tier
- API support gated behind highest tier
- Annual contracts, 1-year minimum
Pricing reality check
Recruitee's Start plan stops at five active jobs, so the sixth role moves you to Advance. Kit counts seats, not job slots, and charges one seat price with no feature tiers. VDP, Outreach and Compensation bill on top of that seat.
Switching from Recruitee?
You'll love Kit if:
- Tired of an upgrade quote for opening a sixth role
- Losing track of candidates once several roles are open at once
- Want resume fields read into your pipeline with a confidence score
- Need pipeline numbers without exporting to a spreadsheet
- Would rather be a startup's main customer than a conglomerate's smallest
Stay with Recruitee if:
- Your legal team requires data residency exclusively on German servers
- You run high-volume frontline hiring that relies on WhatsApp
- You've already integrated payroll with the Tellent HR ecosystem
- You need multi-language, multi-page corporate career portals
Data portability: Recruitee allows CSV exports of candidate data. Be aware that internal notes, comments, and evaluation scorecards are difficult to extract without custom API development.
