Setting Up Compensation Research
Activate Compensation Research and configure which roles and regions to track.
Why It Matters
The setup wizard takes under two minutes. Once complete, data begins flowing in automatically — no ongoing configuration needed.
Activating
Navigate to Compensation Research. If you haven’t activated yet, you’ll see two options:
- Try free for 24 hours — full access, no credit card required. The trial countdown starts immediately.
- Add to subscription — $5/mo — added as a line item to your existing billing. Cancel anytime from Billing Settings.
Only account admins can activate the trial or subscribe. Team members will see a prompt to ask an admin.
After activating, the setup wizard starts automatically.
Step 1: Choose Roles
Select which role clusters to track. Each cluster covers a family of related job titles — for example, “Backend Engineer” matches titles like Ruby Developer, Python Developer, Java Developer, and more.
- Check the roles relevant to your hiring needs
- Optionally filter by technology per role — expand a selected role to narrow tracking to specific technologies (e.g., track only React listings within Frontend Developer)
- Leave technology filters empty to track all technologies for that role
Click Next to continue.
Step 2: Choose Regions
Select the cities and regions to monitor. The list includes major tech hubs and a “Remote” option.
- Check all regions where you hire or compete for talent
- Each region is tracked independently, so you can compare salaries across locations on the dashboard
Click Next to continue.
Step 3: Confirm & Start
Review your selections:
- Tracked Roles — the role clusters you selected, shown as tags
- Regions — the cities and regions you selected
Click Start Tracking to save your configuration. Data scraping begins immediately. Results typically appear within a few minutes after the next scraping run.
Reconfiguring
You can re-run the setup wizard at any time:
- Go to the Compensation Research dashboard
- Click Configure in the top-right corner
- Adjust your role and region selections
- Click Start Tracking to save
Changes take effect on the next data refresh.
