Email & Notification Preferences

How Kit notifies you across in-app, email, and Slack — and how to control what you receive.

Why It Matters

Kit sends notifications when things need your attention — new applications, completed reviews, candidate replies. Getting the right ones at the right time keeps hiring moving. Too many, and you tune them out. Email preferences let you control exactly which categories reach your inbox.

Notification Channels

Kit delivers notifications through three channels:

Channel How It Works
In-app Real-time via the bell icon in the top navigation. A badge shows your unread count. Click to jump directly to the relevant page.
Email Sent to your account email address. Controlled by the category toggles described below.
Slack When your workspace is connected and candidate channels are enabled, hiring events are posted to the relevant candidate’s channel.

In-app notifications are always on. Email and Slack delivery can be configured independently.

Email Categories

Navigate to Account Settings > Email Preferences to toggle categories on or off. Changes take effect immediately.

Category What It Includes
Hiring Notifications New applications, review assignments, candidate replies, interview reminders, offer responses, withdrawals, team member assignments
Marketing Product updates, feature announcements, and tips
AI Credits Usage threshold alerts when your AI credit balance reaches warning levels
Outreach Notifications Draft batches ready for review, prospect replies, bounce rate alerts, campaign completions, connection status changes

All categories are enabled by default when you create your account.

Unsubscribing from Emails

Every email Kit sends includes an unsubscribe link in the footer. You have two options:

  • Click the link — Opens a page where you can manage all your email preferences at once
  • One-click unsubscribe — Email clients that support RFC 8058 (Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook) show an “Unsubscribe” button in the email header. Clicking it instantly unsubscribes you from that category — no confirmation page needed.

One-click unsubscribe is category-specific. It only affects the category of the email you’re unsubscribing from, not all Kit emails.

Re-subscribing

  1. Go to Account Settings > Email Preferences
  2. Toggle the category back on
  3. Click Save

You’ll start receiving emails in that category again immediately.

What’s Not Affected

These emails are always sent regardless of your preferences — they’re essential for account access and security:

  • Password reset emails
  • Account invitation emails
  • Two-factor authentication codes
  • Candidate-facing emails (these go to candidates, not team members)

Quick Checklist

  • Review your email preferences in Account Settings
  • Disable categories you don’t need to reduce inbox noise
  • Verify that one-click unsubscribe works from your email client
  • Connect Slack and enable candidate channels for real-time hiring updates
  • Ensure hiring managers are assigned to jobs so they receive the right notifications
