Posting Jobs to Just Join IT and RocketJobs
Connect the shared employer portal, map each job board separately, and confirm paid publications from Kit.
Why It Matters
Just Join IT and RocketJobs use one employer platform, so your team can connect it to Kit once and distribute a job to either board without copying the posting by hand. Each publication is still reviewed and confirmed separately because the boards use different categories, skills, plans, and credits.
This is a distribution-only integration. The board advertises the role and sends candidates to the application page in Kit. Candidates complete the normal Kit application flow; Kit does not import applications or candidate data from the boards.
Important
Publishing may initially be unavailable. The connection can remain Pending until the required production credentials and your organization’s 1EP access or vendor agreement are confirmed. You can prepare the connection, but no job can be sent while publishing is disabled.
How It Works
- One shared administrator connection. An account administrator authorizes the Just Join IT and RocketJobs employer platform with OAuth and selects the organization unit Kit should use.
- A separate publication for each board. Choose Just Join IT, RocketJobs, or both for a job. Each board has its own field mapping, skills, plan, and payment credit.
- External applications into Kit. The advertisement links to that job’s application page in Kit. Candidate details are not sent to the board as part of distribution.
- Human-confirmed paid publishing. Kit can prepare and validate the advertisement, but a person must review the final board, mapping, and credit before every paid publication.
- Status reconciliation. The documented 1EP API does not provide job-advertisement webhooks, so Kit checks the remote advertisement by its external ID when it needs to confirm the current state.
Before You Connect
Make sure that:
- you are an account administrator in Kit;
- your employer account has 1EP access for the organization you want to use;
- the correct organization unit has a valid publication code or subscription balance;
- the jobs you want to distribute are already published in Kit; and
- every job has a complete title, description, location or remote-work details, employment terms, and application form.
The employer platform supplies the allowed dictionaries for currencies, categories, employment types, experience levels, working times, and workplace types. Kit validates the advertisement against those current values before submission.
Connect the Employer Platform
- Open Integrations in your workspace.
- Open Just Join IT + RocketJobs and click Connect.
- Sign in to the shared employer platform and approve access to your organizations and job publications.
- Back in Kit, select the organization unit that should own and pay for advertisements.
- Click Verify connection and check the publishing status.
An administrator can change the selected organization unit or disconnect the platform later. Existing advertisements stay bound to the organization unit that originally paid for them; the new selection applies only to later publications. Disconnecting prevents new publications and remote status checks from Kit; it does not by itself close advertisements that are already live.
Note
The shared connection does not combine the boards’ balances. Kit reads payment codes and subscriptions for the selected organization unit, but you choose a valid plan and credit separately for every Just Join IT or RocketJobs publication.
Review and Publish a Job
Open a published job in Kit and find its Distribution section.
- Choose Just Join IT or RocketJobs.
- Review the common mapping: category, experience level, employment and working time, workplace type, location, salary currency and range, and advertisement text.
- Review the board-specific skills:
- Just Join IT requires 1–10 skills, each with a proficiency level from 1 to 5.
- RocketJobs accepts 1–8 required skills and up to 8 nice-to-have skills, without proficiency levels.
- Choose an available payment code or subscription and the matching publication plan. A credit can only be used with a compatible plan.
- Confirm that the application destination is the job’s Kit application page.
- Review the selected plan, entitlement usage, and remaining allowance, then click the board-specific Confirm and publish action.
Repeat the review for the other board if you want the job on both. Kit never spends a second board’s credit because you confirmed the first one.
Warning
Creating an advertisement through 1EP creates, pays for, and publishes it in one request. Check the selected board, organization unit, plan, and credit before confirming. Kit never publishes or consumes a credit without that explicit confirmation.
Statuses, Updates, and Closing
The Distribution section shows whether a publication is being prepared, needs review, is being submitted, is live, needs attention, or is closed. If the board rejects a value, Kit keeps the error with the publication so you can correct the mapping and try again.
After publication:
- Updates: Kit can send supported field changes to the existing advertisement. The documented API does not allow changing its title, plan, payment, or external ID. A title or commercial-plan change can therefore require closing the advertisement and creating a new paid publication.
- Closing: Closing the distribution removes the advertisement from the board through the 1EP API. Closing a job in Kit should be followed by confirmation that every remote publication is closed.
- Pausing or unpublishing: Kit closes the remote advertisement so candidates are never sent to an inactive Kit application page. Because 1EP has no reopen operation, resuming the job requires a new review and may consume another credit.
- Reopening: The documented API has no reopen operation. Returning a closed advertisement to a board requires a new review and may consume another credit. Kit will not assume that reopening a Kit job can reactivate the old paid advertisement.
- Timeouts: A network timeout does not prove that publishing failed. Kit blocks another paid attempt and lets you check the original external ID; it never retries an ambiguous paid request automatically.
- Remote changes: Because 1EP documents no advertisement webhooks, a remote change may not appear instantly. Kit reconciles the status when checking or operating on the publication.
Candidate Data and Safety
- The board receives job-advertisement data and an external application URL, not candidate records from Kit.
- Candidates leave the board to apply in Kit, where your usual application form, privacy information, permissions, and hiring workflow apply.
- This integration does not ingest native board applications, messages, or candidate-status updates.
- Only account administrators can manage the shared connection and organization unit.
- Every paid publication requires a final human confirmation.
- After a timeout, do not create a fresh distribution until Kit has reconciled the existing external ID.
Troubleshooting
- Publishing says Pending or is disabled — production OAuth credentials or your vendor contract/1EP access may not yet be confirmed. Ask your account administrator to verify the connection. For vendor-side enablement, contact [email protected].
- No organization units appear — make sure you authorized the correct employer account and that it grants access to the intended organization. Reconnect if the authorization belongs to another account.
- No payment option is available — check the selected organization unit’s payment balance. It needs an unused code or subscription compatible with the chosen board and plan.
- A mapping value is rejected — refresh the board dictionaries, then select a supported category, employment type, experience level, working time, workplace type, currency, and skills.
- The result is unknown after publishing — do not confirm another paid publication. Re-check the existing distribution so Kit can look it up by external ID. If the problem continues, send the board’s error details or trace ID to [email protected].
- You need to change the title, plan, or payment — those values cannot be updated on an existing 1EP advertisement. Close it, review a new publication, and confirm any new charge.
- A closed job must go live again — review it as a new publication; 1EP does not document reopening a closed advertisement.
- The connection no longer verifies — an administrator should reconnect the employer platform. Existing live advertisements remain the responsibility of your organization until their remote closure is confirmed.
