Knowledge Base
How to create knowledge entries that give Kit's outreach AI agent company context for better prospect research and email drafting.
Why It Matters
Kit’s AI agent writes better emails when it knows about your company — your product, your value props, your tone. The knowledge base is where you store that context. Instead of repeating instructions in every campaign, you upload it once and the AI references it automatically during prospect research and email drafting.
Creating an Entry
Navigate to Integrations > Knowledge Base and click New Knowledge Entry.
Each entry has:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A human-readable label (e.g., “Product Overview”, “Case Studies”) |
| Key | A unique identifier used by AI tools to look up this entry. Auto-generated from the name if left blank. Must be lowercase alphanumeric with hyphens (e.g., product-overview) |
| Source type | How the content is provided — Upload or URL |
Upload
Attach a text or Markdown file (up to 5 MB). Kit extracts the content automatically. Supported formats: .txt, .md.
URL
Paste a public URL and Kit fetches the page content. This is useful for linking to your marketing site, product docs, or a public notion page. Kit records a last_fetched_at timestamp so you know when the content was last pulled.
Managing Entries
From the Knowledge Base index page you can:
- Edit — Update the name, key, or content of any entry
- Refresh — Re-fetch content from a URL source to pick up changes
- Delete — Remove an entry permanently
Content is limited to 100,000 characters per entry. If your source exceeds this, it is truncated automatically.
How AI Uses Knowledge
Kit’s outreach AI agent queries the knowledge base during prospect research using the SearchCampaignKnowledge tool. Here’s how it works:
- When drafting an email, the AI searches for knowledge entries relevant to the prospect and campaign context
- Matching entries are included in the AI’s context, giving it accurate information about your company
- The AI uses this context to write more relevant, specific emails — referencing your actual product features instead of generic claims
Example Use Cases
| Entry Key | Content | How the AI Uses It |
|---|---|---|
product-overview |
Your product’s features and benefits | References specific capabilities when explaining relevance to a prospect |
case-studies |
Customer success stories | Mentions relevant case studies that match a prospect’s industry |
company-values |
Mission statement and culture | Adopts your tone and framing in outreach emails |
pricing |
Plan details and packaging | Answers pricing-related context without hallucinating numbers |
