Team Pulse

One optional question about how work feels, confidential group results, and one practical follow-up.

Listen and Act

Team Pulse gives people one optional question about how work has felt over the past two weeks. Each person can choose one of five labeled responses. There are no comments or additional questionnaires.

Use the result to start a conversation and agree on one useful change. It is a snapshot of work experience, not a performance rating, validated engagement score, or diagnosis.

Open a Round

A Performance admin can open a round in Performance > Team pulse. At least five people must have Performance access. The audience is fixed when the round opens; people who gain access afterward can respond in the next round.

Each round stays open for seven days. Starts must be at least fourteen days apart, giving the team time to act before asking again. New rounds are opened manually. Kit sends one invitation and one update when the first follow-up is shared, subject to your Performance email preference and personal notification schedule. There are no automatic reminders.

Respond

If you had Performance access when the round opened and still have access, you can choose to respond. You can answer once per round. Your answer cannot be changed after submission. You can also choose Not now and return while the round is open.

No one sees a list of who responded. Ratings, participation counts, and group results remain hidden while the round is open.

The invitation email includes five face icons with full response labels. Selecting one opens a personal confirmation page with that choice selected; it does not save an answer. Read the privacy note, then confirm to submit. The expiring link only opens this pulse and does not sign you into the rest of Kit. Do not forward it: someone with the link could use its limited access while it remains valid. Your current Performance access is checked again when you use it.

Understand the Result

After the round closes, a background job prepares its result. Opening the pulse can also finish this step if needed. If at least five people responded, the team can see the average and the number of responses out of the original audience. Everyone with Performance access can see the shared result.

If fewer than five people responded, Kit withholds both the result and the participation count. A smaller team can hold a voluntary conversation and agree on a next step instead.

Keep comparisons cautious. Different people may respond in different rounds, and a change in the average does not explain what caused it. The question and response scale stay the same; there are no individual reports or demographic filters.

What Confidential Means

Kit processes ratings to produce the summary. A rating is stored without a link to a person. A separate participation receipt records whether someone has answered so that Kit can prevent duplicate responses. When Kit prepares the closed round’s result, it removes the individual ratings and participation receipts together. It keeps the released group summary, or the fact that the result was withheld.

Confidentiality does not guarantee anonymity. People may already know something about a colleague’s experience, and a small group’s result can still invite guesses. Kit does not identify individual ratings in the product.

Ratings and participation receipts are excluded from account data exports. The export includes round metadata and the shared follow-up, but no ratings, group scores, or participation counts. Pulse answers are not used in performance reviews or AI review drafts. See Exporting Your Account Data.

Share One Follow-up

After the round closes, a Performance admin can publish one practical commitment and a date for the next update. The commitment, the publishing admin’s name, and its completion status are visible to everyone with Performance access. An admin who edits the commitment takes ownership under their own name.

Keep the action small and concrete: for example, protect one meeting-free afternoon or clarify the team’s top priority. You can publish an action even when the result is withheld. Mark it complete when it is done; a completed action cannot be edited.

The first published action sends a short update with the commitment, owner and next-update date. Its personal link opens only this pulse’s shared summary. Editing or completing the action does not send another email. In-app notifications use the usual signed-in page. Email delivery checks your current access, Performance email subscription, holiday and weekend settings, and the account’s sending limit.

Before Opening the Next Round

  • Explain what the team will change and when you will share an update.
  • Leave enough time for people to notice that change.
  • Keep participation voluntary. Do not ask people to reveal their answers.
  • Use an individual conversation when someone chooses to ask for support.
